Your Child’s Cabin Mate Preference, if any:
Please indicate the full name of your child’s ONE and ONLY ONE bunkmate preference. The child must be registered for the same camp and camp week. The request must be reciprocal (in other words the other camper must request your camper too). Camp Tekoa will not honor multiple requests. Confusion and disappointment at check-in can be avoided if parents help choose their child’s one cabin mate and make sure it is reciprocal. Please call if you do not clearly understand this policy. There will be no changes to cabin mate assignments at the time of Check-In.
Welcome to Camp Tekoa!
Camp Tekoa is a summer camp and conference center located in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, near Hendersonville. Tekoa is owned and operated by the Western NC Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Tekoa offers a wide variety of summer resident and day camps for boys and girls. These include elementary day camp, and resident camps for elementary, middle school and high school students. Tekoa also offers Adventure Camps for middle and high school students.
Our mission is "Touching hearts, changing lives, sharing the light of Christ."
Senior Staff Positions
(Must have completed one year of college and a minimum age of 18 years old) These positions include Counselor (Family Group Leader), Adventure Team Staff, Support Staff and Resource Staff.
(Must be a high school graduate, starting first year of college and a minimum age of 17 years old)
The SA program is described as the backbone of our staff, because our SAs are used in many capacities here at Tekoa. Staff Assistants are used flexibly throughout the camp, filling support staff positions as well as Family Group Leader positions along side Senior Staff members. Counselors in Training
(Must be a rising high school senior and a minimum age of 16 years old)
The CIT program is fully experiential (hands-on). As many educators know, this is one of the best avenues for learning. The design of the CIT program is very intentional about leadership experience. Each aspect of the program is designed to meet the goals listed below. After serving as a CIT volunteer, many of our CITs continue on to become leaders with their home youth groups and children ministries. Because the CIT program is a 4-week volunteer opportunity, participants are able to log over 400 volunteer hours for college applications. The CIT program is also a great way to prepare for future summers on staff at Tekoa. It is not a requirement for our senior staff to be prior CITs however; it is a natural first stepping-stone for many of our senior staff.
