Tekoa's special camp programs offer fun activities for developmentally disabled campers.Tekoa's special needs camps offer fun activities for developmentally disabled campers. Ages differ depending on camp so volunteer or sign up today! Campers must be ambulatory and able to feed, bathe, and clothe themselves.

Barnabas Summer Camp
(age 18+)

Campers enjoy activities such as boating, hiking, zipline, arts & crafts, devotions and talent show performances. Each camper is partnered with a special friend who remains by their side throughout the week offering them encouragement and care for eating, sleeping and all the fun in between. July 2-7. Barnabas Summer Camp check-in Monday 3:30-4:30pm. If attending our Barnabas camp please print and fill out our Special Needs Questionnaire.

Barnabas Fall Camp (age 18+)
The same week of summer fun is also offered in the fall! Additional activities may include day trips to pick apples, navigate a corn maze, tour a local bakery and sample cookies. Sept 17-21, 2007. Special Camps for Special People (age 18+)
This weekend is packed with awesome food, great friends, and activities such as zipline, swimming, boating, and arts and crafts. The weekend involves a unique Saturday night talent show, and a big dance, as well as Sunday morning worship. August 17-19, 2007. For info call Jayme Christy at 828-586-2396.

Special Friends are volunteers who assist developmentally disabled campersVolunteers (Special Friends)
(age 18+)

This is a great opportunity to provide a helping hand during an awesome week! Volunteers are assigned a camper with developmental disabilities with whom they share in all the activities of camp. Just as their name suggests, Special Friends are week-long companions who provide care and encouragement while expressing Christian love. 18 yr. old minimum. Application and references required. Special Elementary Day CampsSpecial Elementary Day Camps
(8-12 year olds)

During these special day camp weeks, campers with developmental disabilities will enjoy full participation in activities and will learn side-by-side with other elementary day campers. Our camper/staff ratio for these weeks is lower to be able to encourage and support all campers to grow and learn in Christ and with one another.
